White mattresses can get dirty easily. If it is not cleaned properly or if coffee has been spilled on the bed many times before, it probably needs a thorough cleaning. I’m sure you don’t want to sleep in a worn-looking bed.

Cleaning your mattress and making it new one more time shouldn’t be too difficult. Here are some steps on how you can do it:

Step 1: Remove the sheets and wash them. Set your washing machine’s water temperature to warm settings and wash the sheets with a mild liquid detergent. Also add fabric conditioner to make it smell fresh and clean.

Step 2: Take your mattress to an open area where you can clean it without obstruction. Place it on a clean platform. Prepare your cleaning supplies such as warm water, an empty spray bottle, a small soft bristle brush, distilled white vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, clean towels, a sponge, and a portable vacuum cleaner.

Step 3: Vacuum the mattress first. Make sure the floor is not slippery or the vacuum is not in a puddle of water. Dry the area before using your vacuum to avoid mishaps. Plug in the cleaning machine and vacuum all sides of the bed. Make sure to completely remove accumulated dust and dirt.

Step 4: Unplug your vacuum and set it aside. Mix one cup of distilled white vinegar and one cup of water. Put the mixture in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle a little. Spray the solution all over the mattress. Focus on the stained areas.

If you don’t like using vinegar, you can use lemon juice instead. This will also help remove unwanted stains. It will also work to disinfect the bed. Let the cleaning solution stay there for at least an hour.

Step 5: After an hour, take the sponge and soak it in warm water. Squeeze out the excess. Clean the surface of the bed with the sponge. Do not soak the mattress.

Step 6: Sprinkle baking soda all over the bed. This will also help reduce stains and help the mattress appear whiter and cleaner. Let it sit there for an hour before vacuuming it up.

Step 7: Let the mattress dry completely before putting it back in your room. Make sure the mattress is dry before putting the sheets on.

From time to time, vacuum your bed to prevent dust mites from building up. Also avoid eating or drinking while on the mattress.
