Most of the time, those who run a business know that they need to be on social media, but chances are, and I’m speaking broadly, many people over 50 don’t understand how social media works in such a way. effective enough to attract potential customers.

Not knowing much about social media and seeing the young lady from the office on her phone all the time, they think she must know how to use social media herself, so they think about giving the company social media to post. ads and generate new business.

This is a big and expensive mistake, let me tell you what happened.

Of course it’s so wrong on so many levels as there is no question that the girl knows how to be social, but she doesn’t know how to drive traffic (leads) and then be able to convert leads into sales.

I saw this first hand the other day when I was visiting a property as a client. I didn’t go in thinking about work, I was off duty and looking to have “ME” time. Being how outgoing I am, I started talking to the owner, where she told me what kinds of things she was doing on social media and asked to see the business Facebook page.

Just as I had thought, the page looked like flashing neon lights walking down the main street in Las Vegas, you almost needed to wear sunglasses. The glow from those banners was so bright!

I also noticed that it was obvious that I was not the only one feeling that way as there were only mainly 3 views and no comments.

I could not avoid it. I reached into my tote bag to grab my phone, which somehow always reaches the bottom of the bag. Then I blurted out that I was a social media expert and that I was going to show them the power of running using social media correctly.

Of course, I asked them if they were okay to shoot the video and they were nervous and didn’t need to be, as I was basically going to chat with the owner of the company about her business, something that she would already feel comfortable with. The interview was fun and informative, and the manager and worker relaxed as I elicited more information about what the business was about.

We had fun as did the people who were watching and commenting. In total, I have 3000 views, 30 comments and a ton of inquiries about the visit and the last time I spoke to her she had one of the most important weeks she had on social media.

The moral of the story is for professionals to run their campaigns to get sales, otherwise you will waste a lot of time and, most importantly, money.
