The city of Glasgow is the largest city in all of Scotland and is also the city with one of the three largest populations in the entire United Kingdom. It is located by the River Clyde and in the lowlands of west central Scotland. Anyone who hails from this city is known as a Glaswegian and this term also refers to a local Scottish dialect.

The city of Glasgow became more important during the 10th and 11th centuries under the care of King David I, who was a Scottish king, and also under the care of John, who was Bishop of Glasgow. In fact, the city is also famous for having religious sites that were established in the 6th century.

Over time the city grew and in the 15th century the University of Glasgow was founded and the city grew from a bishopric to an archbishopric, giving the city more importance in terms of its educational and religious status.

Although Glasgow is on the same latitude as Moscow, the climate it enjoys is more oceanic and spring here is mild and quite pleasant. The city is centered around Glasgow Cathedral and its old high street around which the city center is located. Also, the city has its commercial and theater district and there is also a market town which is located on the east side of the city.

To the west is the financial district which occupies areas known as Anderston and Blythswood Hill. Glasgow’s West End is known for being bohemian and there are many cafes, tea rooms and bars, boutiques and luxury hotels, as well as nightclubs and even restaurants.

Places of interest include the Glasgow Botanic Gardens and then there is the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
